Should you stay with your Huawei Device?
If you are like me who owns a Huawei device, chances are you already know the latest news about Huawei and you are probably thinking of what to do next. However, if you are not yet aware then you can read my previous blog post about it and my opinion regarding this issue.
Personally, I think I'll still hold on to my Huawei devices
(yep, devices), because of these reasons:
- For me, it is still a good device regardless if it will continue to receive Google updates or not. Heck, I have had devices that were never updated from the moment that I bought them and they work just fine. Sure I'll be less secure and be prone to attack but let's be honest, the average consumer does not really care about security what they care about is if it is working or not and believe me, even if your device is stuck in Android 8 or 9, it will be viable even after 2 years.
- People tend to be emotional and by that very emotional. I have read an article where the people rushed to sell their devices even if they take a loss without considering that the ban may be is temporary only. For all we know, the Huawei ban is just one of the US' administration tactics to have a negotiation with China knowing all too well that Huawei is one of the bigger companies.
- My last personal reason as to why I'll hold on to my device is curiosity. Yes, I am actually quite excited to know how Huawei will react to this. There are already news around the internet that says that they are going to release their own OS soon and I am hoping that they will allow existing users to test their own OS first. Maybe like you get to choose Android or ours. Maybe this is a reach but still, it is not wrong to hope right?
While I did point out some of the reasons why I will choose
to stay with my devices. Here are some reasons that I can think of why you
should let go of your Huawei device:
You want to be sure that you have the latest updates or you
simply like to be updated on your mobile phones OS. If this is the case then
yeah, maybe you should find another device that will suit your needs because if
the ban is not lifted after the 90-days temporary license expires then updates
will really be uncertain.
You are concern about spying. Yeah, we know that there are
many many news claiming that Huawei spies on us so maybe you like to be on the
safer side and would rather stay away from Huawei for awhile. However, I have
also read some news that Google also spies on their user (don't quote me on
this. lol) so may be a matter of choice of whom do you want to spy on you?
China or the U.S.
You are uncertain with Huawei's future. This, I can relate
here. Seeing how the ban affected the company it begs the question, "What
if this happens again?" if ever the ban was lifted and then the U.S.
decides to impose a ban again. I mean at this case, no brands are safe except
their country's own.
Well, regardless of what your decision is I just hope that
you really think about it and you are not just moving along with the majority.
